Look up your country on World Press Freedom Day!
Apparently, my country, Hungary, which is labeled as “Partly free” by Freedom House, is ranked 40th. And to my surprise, that is better than the US’s rank (only 47th), but the US is labeled as “Free” by Freedom House!
Can somebody explain this to me?*
*So, as it turns out, Freedom House mainly focuses on political freedom, while Reporters Without Borders monitors national media as a whole. That must cause a difference, although I am still surprised how the US could do worse than Hungary.
