Blabbing my 24 for 24 list

I never make New Year’s (or any kind of) resolutions, but I love to plan out the year ahead every year, and I have different methods to do that. I don’t really like New Year’s as an arbitrary date to start new things, because my principle is that when you really need to change something, why wait even for the next day? Start right now, no matter what day it is. But as a huge planner and goal-setter I like setting goals for different periods of time and the start of a new year is a great opportunity to review…

Five things I love to bring to 2018

I wrote earlier that I didn’t really feel like doing a review of last year, since there are not many things to look back at. 2017 was decidedly not my year. Looking back what I feel is as if I have completely skipped the whole year. All I can think about is work, I even had 10+ paid leave days remaining (i.e. going to waste), because there was always some reason not to take a day off. Of course I have all the intention now to change things, so that I would have a bunch of great stuff to look…

Sunday Smack

Happy New Year’s Eve, everybody! This is the yearly round-up edition of Sunday Smack, with a couple of reviews of the year. I was also thinking aobut doing a more personal round-up as I did last year, but looking back this year doesn’t give me much pleasure, so I am still not sure if it is going to happen. Anyway, here’s a bit of reading before the party gets going. Key events around the world in 2017 The title says it all, some of the news stories that shaped our passing year. Ten World Figures Who Died in 2017 I…

Happy New Year, everybody! A photo posted by Katalin Tarjan (@katalintarjan) on Jan 1, 2016 at 9:55am PST I hope you are content with how you have spent your holidays and ready to get back in the saddle for a fresh new start. For me, it was more work and less rest than planned, but in all, I have spent a pleasant one and a half weeks “holidaying”.  I know I have promised a separate look-back post which never happened, so I incorporated the half done pieces of it to this post (after I finished them, of course), you will find…

Happy New Year Everybody! Welcome to the first Sunday Smack of 2015, and the 90th altogether! There is a celebration due in ten weeks! 🙂 If I said last week was down time in blogosphere, this one was even “downer”. And I can’t say I am longing to go back to working weekdays either. I guess I’ll feel different about it once I’m back in the saddle already. I have some important career goals for 2015 too! I am thinking of ways to share them here with you all and create a career feature on this page. How would you…

Sunday Smack

Happy Sunday everybody, and welcome to the last Sunday Smack of 2014! This is going to be sort of a holiday edition, since most of my favorite bloggers were off this week too. I am still planning at least one end of the year post, but in the meantime, here’s what I’ve read this week. Thawing of US-Cuba Relations: What to Expect Next? A really great overview of what’s possible to come in the bilateral and international context of the new US-Cuba policy. Why 2015 Will Be a Huge Year for Humanity 2015 indeed will be a very exciting year for…

Happy 2014 everybody! I hope all of your New Years started as great as mine. I came accross some great reads as well in the first days of 2014, check out a few of them. On world affairs: John Kerry cites some progress in Mideast diplomacy US Secretary of State John Kerry started off the New Year with another trip to the Middle East to hold talks with Israeli, Palestinian and other leaders in the region. Why does Ariel Sharon matter? With news of Ariel Sharon’s already bad health failing, The Telegraph posted this article about his significant role in…
