Happy Sunday, Everybody! I have had the best time in London earlier this week. Although sunny London is still my favorite London, snowy London was a spectacular sight to see! And I’ll be back in just four months! Until then, there is a holiday season to get through. Every year I pledge not to become so overwhelmed and overloaded by this time, and every year I fail. It is a busy time at work and with everything else to get done, by the time it’s actually Christmas I just wish to get it over with and be able to sleep….

Happy Sunday! By the time you are reading this, I will be in London ahead of the Mariah Carey Christmas concert Monday night (at the time of writing I even have a spare ticket to sell, message me if you are interested). As much as I love London, I’ve never visited during Christmas time, so I am pretty excited. There will be photos on my Instagram, check it out if you love London or Christmas or Mariah or all of them. Now, let’s see what happened in the world this week. Who else is tired of all those early year-in-reviews? I mean it could very well be that the best of this year is yet to come! It must come in a hurry, no doubt, but still, there is a chance. Why not wait for it? That being said, check out the Top 25 News Photos of 2016 collected by The Atlantic these photos are everything! And check out the other stories from this week too! Happy last Sunday of the year, people! I hope all your holidays were merry and bright and you are ready for the year end festivities.  This one’s going to be the shortest round-up ever, since most of my favorite bloggers spent their well deserved days off this week and even the first half of the week was quite uneventful with not much to write about.  There will be the inevitable year-end round-ups, I will devote a separate post for them later next week. See you then! Christmas celebrations are banned in Somalia, Tajikistan and Brunei They say the reason for…

Happy Holidays, everybody! How is it that I become too exhausted to enjoy the preparations every single year by this time?  Tons of work, studies, Christmas shopping, multiple Christmas fair + mulled wine sessions with friends, hosting family, cooking my annual Christmas cookies for colleagues, this is just how my last couple of days looked like, and again, lots of work to come for the next three days as well… Oh and did I mention the anxiety over some unarrived (I know, I just made this word up) Christmas presents? I am so much in need of some sleep time…

Happy Sunday everybody, and welcome to the last Sunday Smack of 2014! This is going to be sort of a holiday edition, since most of my favorite bloggers were off this week too. I am still planning at least one end of the year post, but in the meantime, here’s what I’ve read this week. Thawing of US-Cuba Relations: What to Expect Next? A really great overview of what’s possible to come in the bilateral and international context of the new US-Cuba policy. Why 2015 Will Be a Huge Year for Humanity 2015 indeed will be a very exciting year for…

Happy Holidays Everybody! And thank you so much for taking the time to read even on this last Sunday before Christmas! A lot of things happened in the world this week, partly sad, partly exciting (just like my life right now). Here’s what my favorite bloggers blogged about. The Sony Hack: Will the United States Take Countermeasures Against North Korea? And even more so, what kind of measures will they be? International law provides a series of possibilities. The ICC’s Rough December I have posted about these before too, but the ICC still seems to be having a hard time…

Happy pre-Christmas weekend everybody! Especially those who don’t have to work anymore before Christmas. I am not amongst them this year, but I too will be heading home for the holiday tomorrow night. World news is all about South Sudan and CAR these days. It seems these two topics are going to define headlines for the last days of the year too. Here are some great posts from last week. On world affairs: South Sudan: How Bad Can It Get? Worrisome turning of events in the youngest country of the world. There is no way to predict the outcome yet. Read…
