Happy Sunday everybody! How about last night’s ESC results? I did not like either of these songs in particular, but the announcement of the results was something.  When it came down to Russia versus Ukraine, Ukraine must have taken the win, even though I am pretty sure the results were manipulated, in Russia for sure. There was also a collective sigh of relief heard over the winner remaining in Europe after all, although nobody really understood how Australia got in the picture in the first place. Then again, the Eurovision Song Contest is still very much like geopolitics, only the…

Happy August, people! Can you believe it’s August already? That means we have only five months left to act on all our goals for 2015! I don’t know about you guys, but that means a lot of work for me to do!  Anyway, I hope the past two-third of this summer was spent well for you all, and you are as excited about its remains as I am! Let’s check out some of this week’s reads… Unpacking Obama’s Message to the African Union The first ever address that a sitting US president made at an African Union meeting held quite…

/photo via/ Happy Easter for those who celebrate it, and happy ordinary spring weekend for everybody else! I hope you are having a great weekend either way! There were plenty of news concerning world affairs this week, it was hard to pick but a few posts again. Check them out. 5 Keys To Decoding the Nigerian Elections For Nigeria this is undoubtedly positive. But whether it is huge enough to impact the whole region, time will tell. Kenya Attack: Are schools the Newest Terrorist Targets? Sadly enough. Yet again, this proves how extremists consider education and knowledge their biggest enemy….

Happy Holidays Everybody! And thank you so much for taking the time to read even on this last Sunday before Christmas! A lot of things happened in the world this week, partly sad, partly exciting (just like my life right now). Here’s what my favorite bloggers blogged about. The Sony Hack: Will the United States Take Countermeasures Against North Korea? And even more so, what kind of measures will they be? International law provides a series of possibilities. The ICC’s Rough December I have posted about these before too, but the ICC still seems to be having a hard time…

Happy pre-Christmas weekend everybody! Especially those who don’t have to work anymore before Christmas. I am not amongst them this year, but I too will be heading home for the holiday tomorrow night. World news is all about South Sudan and CAR these days. It seems these two topics are going to define headlines for the last days of the year too. Here are some great posts from last week. On world affairs: South Sudan: How Bad Can It Get? Worrisome turning of events in the youngest country of the world. There is no way to predict the outcome yet. Read…

Hope you all had a great week and an even better weekend! Here’s a few news stories to look back to: On world affairs: EU reaction to the NSA Affair Well, hacking world leaders’ cell phones is a serious issue. I would even double Lawfare’s Ingrid Wuerth calling it a diplomatic disaster. It is still unclear though how deep this will impact EU-US relations. UPR and Israel Israel has refused to atted its review session of the UN Human Rights Council’s Universal Periodic Review, being the first state ever to do so. The rescheduled review is about to take place…

Hello everyone, how are things going where you are? The weekend seemed painfully short for me this time, although I really would have a lot of things to rest upon both at work and in life. Maybe some other time. Progress on Syria was so fast this week, that even yesterday’s articles seem outdated. Unfortunately, dynamism does not equal improvement. Nevertheless, I came accross a few good reads.   On world affairs: Did The World Just Legitimize The Assad Regime It Spent Years Discrediting?  I start with this, because this is actually a really good point. Does the international community…
