I was very happy when I learned last year that the UN dedicates a day to Happiness.
I always thought all these annual days of UN observances are important because they usually deal with important issues many people would otherwise rarely (if ever) hear of.
The pursuit of happiness as a fundamental human goal is something I wish would be talked about much more in my country. Most of Hungarian people (generally known for their pessimism and low spirit) would never consider happiness as a goal, let alone one of the fundamental goals. (I don’t have numbers, but the sociologist in me says this would be worth studying.)
I also think Bhutan’s concept of Gross National Happiness should be implemented the world over – happiness is a much better measure of success than any economic indicators ever invented!
So, I hope you are all having a very happy Happiness Day and pursuing happiness in your lives every day!
