While of course the most anticipated speeches of the general debate are yet to come, it has started yesterday nonetheless. The report of the Secretary General brought no surprise, he was emphasizing the same issues he was talking about before. I liked how straightforward and articulate he was about the most important ones. Regarding Syria he warned once again that the serious and growing threat to international peace and security requires Security Council action. Obama to Permit Young Migrants to Remain in U.S. President Obama outlined a new immigration policy under which young illegal immigrants who came to the country as children can obtain work permits and will not face deportation. “Put yourself in their shoes. Imagine you’ve done everything right your entire life … only to suddenly face the threat of deportation.”  “They are Americans in their hearts, in their minds, in every single way but one: on paper.“ Not that I don’t agree with every word but make no mistake here: this is politics.
