Sunday Smack

Spread the love

Happy Sunday, all!

The end of the year is quickly approaching, I honestly have no idea where did all those days and weeks go…

I had a crazy week again, I fell behind with all the reading (note: this is a very last minute post!) and studies, and what is worse, I am literally nowhere with the Christmas preparations. I’ll have lots of catching up to do this coming week in more than one areas.

BUT, we have a Climate Agreement, people!! This is surely the news of the week, see details below. Now, let’s all hope it can really save the Earth for us for a little while longer.

On another note, what do you think of TIME’s decision to name Angela Merkel as person of the year? I think it is quite appropriate.

Now, let’s read.

Will Climate Refugees Be Included in the Outcome of the Paris Climate Talks?

It is a triumph of diplomacy, but diplomacy alone is not enough to reverse such a grandiose phenomena as climate change. The rest we will see in the years to come. The other post about climate refugees is of course from earlier this week, but it is really interesting, and we can now check the final text in which “displacement” appears only one time.

Blockbuster Strasbourg Judgment on Surveillance in Russia

Honestly, I would have stepped over this news with moderate interest (tending towards none at all), but all the major international law blogs seemed to think it was a big deal, so I read along, and you should too. The ECHR is at it again.

“Legitimized Self-Defense” – Quo Vadis Security Council?

Yep, believe it or not, it is still that very same SC Resolution we are arguing about. I am sure history will rewrite all our current theories, but international law scholars just can’t help themselves. 🙂
