Security Council fails to adopt Syria resolution Despite the appeals for united and concerted action to help end the escalating violence in Syria, the Security Council today failed to adopt a resolution that would have threatened sanctions on Damascus, owing to the negative votes of some of the body’s permanent members. Eleven of the Council’s 15 members voted in favour of the resolution’s text, Russia and China – both permanent members – voted against, while two others, Pakistan and South Africa, abstained. A veto by any one of the Council’s five permanent members means a resolution cannot be adopted.

Actually, I had two other questions submitted that were better than this one. 🙂 Nevertheless, it was nice of him doing this whole Q&A thing. Unfortunately I missed the one with Aaron Sorkin a few weeks ago, and didn’t submit any questions for John Gallagher Jr either, so I was happy to be able to participate in this one. Also, imo the last ep of The Newsroom was the best so far! 🙂

Szelleme, amely valójában csak ekkor bontakozhatott ki, megdöbbentő függetlenségről tett tanúságot. Most visszaemlékezve ámulok el rajta igazán. Csak egy jelenetet, közbevetően. Egyetlen ünnepet tartott, a kálvinisták nagy ünnepét, nagypénteket.

‘Number one most wanted’ Nazi-war criminal accused of complicity in 15,700 deaths tracked down in Budapest I’ve been meaning to post about this ever since I saw how long Laszlo Csatary was trending on Twitter yesterday morning. Obviously, many people around the world have their opinions whether justice still needs to be done or not. Yes, the man is 97 years old. There are those who think that an old man in his age should be left alone, but my personal opinion is that the acts he allegedly commited were serious enough to call for justice even that many years…
