Much of the U-2’s wreckage was recovered by the Soviets, and its pilot, Captain Francis Gary Powers, captured alive, even though President Eisenhower was told that the U-2 spy plane had a self-destruct mechanism that would prevent them from discovering its true purpose. Hungary says 2 hostages in Syria are alive The Hungarians were snatched Saturday from a company’s offices in southeast Syria, the spokesman said, declining to reveal further details citing security concerns.
I think it’s obvious why I like this. 🙂 theseatofempire: Flags at the United Nations Headquarters, with the Hungarian flag prominent in the center. The flags of all countries of the world are arranged in English alphabetical order in front of the UN, which means the people who are in charge of them must hate any new country created that messes everything up.
