UN highlights power of social media in modern diplomacy during day-long New York event The United Nations has held its first ever Social Media Day at its New York Headquarters on Friday, in an event featuring social media professionals, digital diplomacy practitioners and academics who were sharing their experiences, discussing trends and proving insights into their work. The United Nations is present on almost all social media platforms (including Tumblr), and indeed considers social media so important as to dedicate a whole day of events to it.
