Happy Sunday and Happy Spring Everybody! One failed exam later I am determined to return to the blog and to life and find a different approach for taking this exam. One that doesn’t involve neglecting everything else that matters to me or matters even more than taking an exam I wouldn’t even need later on. I might even write a post about it one of these days. But for now, let’s see this week’s stories. Excuse the hastiness of this post, I had very little time this week. Unconstitutional and Invalid: South Africa’s Withdrawal from the ICC Barred (For Now)…

Happy Sunday! I hope you all had a great week trying to figure out your stance on all issues affecting your lives these days. I was determined not to post about the President-Elect anymore until some new story comes up, but I didn’t have much choice, most of the blogs I follow were full of predictions (but mostly yet unanswered questions) of what’s to come in world affairs. On a more delightful note, it is Gilmore Girls week! Which coincides with Thanksgiving weekend in the US, and Black Friday all over the world. So I hope you’ll have a happy…

Happy Sunday and happy Halloween, everybody!  We are having a long weekend in Hungary, unfortunately filled with work for me. I can’t believe how quickly we are approaching the end of 2016. There are a lot of exciting things this coming November holds for us though, like the Marrakesh Climate Change Conference (to be preceded by the entry into force of the Paris Agreement), an historic presidential election in the US, the return of Gilmore Girls on Netflix, to list just a few. Here’s your reading for today. This will not be the end of “The Jungle” One of the…

Happy Sunday, all! This year is the 60th annivesary of a hopeful revolution that started on the streets of Budapest in the fall of 1956 but resulted in brutal repulse and more than 40 more years under Russian oppression. Around this time every year we remember the bravery of those Hungarian people who risked their lives for freedom. There were commemorations held around the world this week for the occasion. And a lot of other news, of course. Let’s see some of them. Truly Winning the Battle of Mosul The battle of Mosul was kind of the news of the week….

Happy first day of Summer everybody! Astrologically, that is, although weather-wise we are past a few hot summer days already. I hope all your summers are going wonderfully. I am still busy as ever, and it’s a shame especially because there are plenty of things to post about these days. I am trying hard not to miss marking anything important. These are just a few of this week’s top posts. World Refugee Day 2015: The Urgent Need For A Fresh Perspective On Global Migration Yesterday was World Refugee Day, but these days there are so much more to remind us…

Happy Sunday! This was an eventful week world affairs-wise with a lot of great posts all around the blogosphere. These are just a few of them. Are Human Rights Hurting Migrants at Sea? This issue rapidly became ever urgent and pressing in the past few weeks, one that needs to be effectively dealt with in the European Union as a whole, but also on individual member state levels. The Economic Roots of Xenophobic Attacks in South Africa Another migration related issue from this week. Xenophobic violence sparks once again in one of the few economically stable African states. Yemen is…

halftheskymovement: Today we honor a man who paved a path to equality and changed the destiny of the millions living under apartheid. His courage and integrity changed the world.  And what better way to honor him than to continue his fight for equality. Take some time today to make a difference, no matter how small. Thank you, Nelson Mandela!

Happy Sunday everybody! As I put the finishing touches to this post, I am watching the sad pictures on CNN of Nelson Mandela being laid to rest. This of course marks the end of the 10-day-mourning that really defined world news in the past few days. I selected a few posts from other topics too, though. On world affairs: A Pivotal Week for the Central African Republic France is taking the lead role again in an African conflict zone with two casualties so far. Back in the USSR What is it about the European Union that makes thousands of Ukrainians bare…
