The Sustainable Development Goals are adopted!

The Sustainable Development Summit is underway in New York City. The summit kicked off yesterday with an historic opening address by Pope Francis, a call to action from Malala Yousafzai and performances by Shakira and Angelique Kidjo among other events.  The new sustainable development goals or global goals as they are widely referred to got adopted by the General Assembly too! Now comes the hard part: acting on the newly adopted goals. For a recap of yesterday’s events, click here. To learn more about the sustainable development goals, click here. The 2015 Global Citizen Festival is now also a part of…

Happy first day of Summer everybody! Astrologically, that is, although weather-wise we are past a few hot summer days already. I hope all your summers are going wonderfully. I am still busy as ever, and it’s a shame especially because there are plenty of things to post about these days. I am trying hard not to miss marking anything important. These are just a few of this week’s top posts. Happy Sunday Everybody and Happy Mother’s Day to all mothers (especially on this side of the pond, where we celebrate Mother’s Day today)! Which I don’t mind at all since I can’t take off time for a holiday this year anyway. Let’s see what I have found worthy of reading and sharing this week. On world affairs: Laura Dean’s Cairo Diary Please keep following Laura Dean’s Cairo Diary on Lawfare. Yes, I am recommending this for the second time, but it really is that good! How We Are Failing Syrian People Yet another piece on how the international community is failing to do…

Happy Mother’s Day to my Mother, my Grandmas and of course all the moms out there! Welcome to my third Sunday Smack!  I have to say I really do enjoy doing this for the third time this week. It sort of keeps me organized in terms of my professional reading “duties” all week. I only hope you can benefit from these collections too! The only real critique I got so far, is that I tend to be too long for one post, so l’ll try to keep it brief this time. If you have any more comments, keep them coming!…
