Happy Sunday! I have spent some wonderful days in the UK and had a fantastic time at the U2 concert at TheO2, London on Tuesday. You can check out some of my photos and videos on my Instagram. Then of course, it was back to work for the second half of the week. Well, how about this? And how about other world leaders following the example? Because it’s 2015. And for some more inspiration on gender equality you should watch Emma Watson’s interview with Malala at Into Film Festival, if you haven’t yet. Let’s see what else happened this week……
The Sustainable Development Summit is underway in New York City. The summit kicked off yesterday with an historic opening address by Pope Francis, a call to action from Malala Yousafzai and performances by Shakira and Angelique Kidjo among other events. The new sustainable development goals or global goals as they are widely referred to got adopted by the General Assembly too! Now comes the hard part: acting on the newly adopted goals. For a recap of yesterday’s events, click here. To learn more about the sustainable development goals, click here. The 2015 Global Citizen Festival is now also a part of…
Dear brothers and sisters, the so-called world of adults may understand it, but we children don’t. Why is it that countries which we call “strong” are so powerful in creating wars but so weak in bringing peace? Why is it that giving guns is so easy but giving books is so hard? Why is it that making tanks is so easy, but building schools is so difficult? As we are living in the modern age, the 21st century and we all believe that nothing is impossible. We can reach the moon and maybe soon will land on Mars. Then, in…

“Action now will save lives, build a solid foundation for sustainable development far beyond 2015 and help lay the groundwork for lasting peace and human dignity. We have 500 days to accelerate MDG action. Let’s make every day count.” /Secretary General Ban Ki-moon/ There is only 500 days left to reach the Millenium Development Goals. 500 Days of Action, that is. Secretary General Ban Ki-moon of the United Nations celebrated the momentum along with 500 young people including Malala Yousafzai. Check the link clicking the picture to learn more about the MDGs, what’s left for these 500 days…
Today and every day – I support the values she stands for. Happy Birthday Malala!
How is everybody doing this weekend? Once again I wish the weekend would last a few days longer, so I could catch up with all the things I don’t get to do with my 10+ hours per day working schedule. I know I seem to be complaining all the time, but finally I am about to act on it too. In the meantime, check out the news that caught my attention this week. On world affairs: Nobel Peace Prize Fails to Pacify Interesting collection of social media responses to the news. I personally am among those who are disappointed that…

Education first.” – Malala Yousafzai Malala, who turns 16 today, addressed the United Nations headquarters in New York as part of her campaign to ensure free compulsory education for every child. Taliban gunmen shot Malala on her school bus last October following her campaign for girls’ rights. “I am here to speak up for the right of education of every child,” she said.
