The World is Watching – are you? The General Debate of the 69th Session of the UN General Assembly just started yesterday. As President Obama pointed out in his speech, world leaders gathered in New York, because “others realized that we gain more from cooperation than conquest”. As it is a democratic institution though, there are quite a few speakers at the General Assembly representing member states that still don’t seem to realize that. World AIDS Day is held on December 1 for the 25th time this year! Combating AIDS as one of the deadliest diseases is an emphasized goal of the United Nations, one of Millenium Development Goals. I finally got around to watch last Monday’s discussion of the Kofi Annan Dialogues. This time the topic was Young People’s Priorities for the Post 2015 Global Development Agenda. Mr. Annan once again emphasized his belief in young people’s role in forming our future and working towards the fulfilment of all the important development goals.
