Happy Sunday and happy June!  I can’t believe it’s almost June already, it feels like we’ve skipped several weeks of this year, I don’t even know where they went. Happy July, everybody! And happy long weekend for those who are enjoying one now. Aren’t these cyberattacks more and more worrying? If you don’t care to share your opinion on the one single occasion it actually counts, then shut the f#@$ up all other times. As a sociologist, I…

It’s International Literacy Day!

It’s International Literacy Day! Again, this is a cause very close to my heart. Literacy, reading, the right to education and education in general.  “This year’s International Literacy Day is dedicated to “literacies for the 21st century” to highlight the need to realize “basic literacy skills for all” as well as equip everyone with more advanced literacy skills as part of lifelong learning.” Click the image to learn more!

halftheskymovement: “Education is the only solution. Education first.” – Malala Yousafzai Malala, who turns 16 today, addressed the United Nations headquarters in New York as part of her campaign to ensure free compulsory education for every child. Taliban gunmen shot Malala on her school bus last October following her campaign for girls’ rights. “I am here to speak up for the right of education of every child,” she said. Watch Malala’s full speech at the UN here and sign her Change.org petition. You can also find the full text of this great speech clicking here. (Source: http://halftheskymovement.tumblr.com/)
