The World is Watching – are you? The General Debate of the 69th Session of the UN General Assembly just started yesterday.  As President Obama pointed out in his speech, world leaders gathered in New York, because “others realized that we gain more from cooperation than conquest”. As it is a democratic institution though, there are  quite a few speakers at the General Assembly representing member states that still don’t seem to realize that. The General Assembly has declared this as a day devoted to strengthening the ideals of peace, both within and among all nations and peoples. To mark the 30th anniversary of the General Assembly Declaration on the Right of Peoples to Peace, the theme of this year’s International Day of Peace is the “Right of Peoples to Peace”.
