Last episode of Desperate Housewives tonight, who’s excited?? Of course I won’t get to watch it until a few days later, but still wanted to mark this occasion. 馃檪 I can imagine there’ll be spoilers all over tomorrow anyway… 馃檪 Tonight I’ll watch a little Fairly Legal, instead. 馃檪

Robert Burns: Oh Wert Thou in the Cauld Blast

I love this one by Robert Burns although I have to admit the language with the Scottish flavour is a little hard for me. Plus we have a beautiful translation in Hungarian by S谩ndor We枚res. Hungarian speakers can find it below. 馃檪 ________________________________________________________ Robert Burns: Oh Wert Thou In The Cauld Blast Oh wert thou in the cauld blast, On yonder lea, on yonder lea, My plaidie to the angry airt, I’d shelter thee, I’d shelter thee; Or did misfortune’s bitter storms Around thee blaw, around thee blaw, Thy bield should be my bosom, To share it a’, to share…

J贸zsef Attila: Kopogtat谩s n茅lk眉l / Without knocking / Sin llamar

Since it’s his birthday, I start with one of my favorites from Attila J贸zsef. First in Hungarian, then in English, and for the Spanish speaking readers, I recently found a Spanish translation on this all about Attila J贸zsef Tumblr page. ______________________________________________________ J贸zsef Attila: Kopogtat谩s n茅lk眉l Ha megszeretlek, kopogtat谩s n茅lk眉l bej枚hetsz hozz谩m, de gondold j贸l meg, szalmazs谩komra fektetlek, porral s贸hajt a zizeg艖 szalma. A kancs贸ba friss vizet hozok be n茅ked, cip艖det, miel艖tt elm茅gy, let枚rl枚m,itt nem zavar benn眉nket senki,g枚rnyedv茅n ruh谩nkat nyugodtan foltozhatod. Nagy cs枚nd a cs枚nd, n茅ked is sz贸lok,ha f谩radt vagy, egyetlen sz茅kemre le眉ltetlek, melegben levethetsz nyakkend艖t, gall茅rt,ha 茅hes vagy, tiszta papirt kapsz t谩ny茅rul, amikor…

My side notes on the resignation of our president

Actually, I wrote this one on Monday morning, before Pal Schmitt resigned, so when it happened I put it aside. Only now I decided to rewrite a few sentences, extend it with one or two paraghraphs and post it anyway. I would like to state that this is my opinion, I don’t intend to offend anyone with it. So, apparently what entertains foreign media the most in this story is that first Hungarian president Pal Schmitt said he’s not going to resign, then he said he’s not going to resign once more and then he resigned. What happened in my…

New season of Fairly Legal starts today

Who else is watching? One of my favorite legal shows (partly for entertainment, partly to extend my legal vocabulary :)), just wish I had more time to watch them. Gif from:聽fuckyeahsarahshahi

My liked posts on the “Likes” panel are totally mixed. It happened yesterday and I hate it. I like things neatly so I liked the succession order. Why did it have to change? Does anybody know if there’s anything to do to fix it?

The Door, the movie based on Magda Szab贸’s famous novel comes out this week in Hungary directed by Academy Award Winning director Istv谩n Szab贸 (no relation, it’s a very common name in Hungary). Recently I was lucky enough to attend a public talk with Istv谩n Szab贸 about the movie, the cast, the novel and some background stories. We learned that it wasn’t the director’s idea to make this movie, he was asked to do it. The Door is one of the late Magda Szab贸’s most well-known pieces of work translated into 38 languages. It is also one of her autobiographical…

So happy for Meryl’s win! Little sorry for Viola Davis, this probably was her only chance – or maybe not, take Christopher Plummer… :). (For Meryl… I still picture her in a future movie about Eleanor Roosevelt…:)) I think The Descendants should have won more awards. For me, Jean Dujardin’s win was predictable, although some were still surprised and said Clooney was robbed. Maybe, but he’ll be back… 馃檪 I haven’t seen the full show yet, but I understand it was a big night for The Artist, Angelina Jolie’s right leg and J-Lo’s nipple… 馃檪 congrats to all… 馃檪
