Sunday Smack

I hope you are having a smooth, relaxing weekend! We keep saying that these things can happen now anywhere, anytime, but if there was ever a place where I couldn’t imagine such a terrible event happening, it would have been Las Vegas. There are times when I am glad to be living in a country where people can’t just walk around with guns. I know that doesn’t mean I am safe, just saying. How many more people will have to die for pro-gun Americans to realize that something needs to be done? Anyway, keep safe, everybody, wherever you are! Although,…

Happy Sunday! Destpite the very eventful week in world affairs, I would start again with something I (and many others) believe is an international issue, being an attack against democracy. You might have heard the law undercutting Central European University in Hungary has been adopted in spite of wide international protests. The protests continue, now the aim is to get President Áder not to sign the legislation. You can sign the petition clicking here. I am not sure whether any of this helps, but please do sign if you haven’t already and share with others! Now, let’s get to all…

The Nuclear Zero Lawsuits On the sidenotes of the Nuclear Securtiy Summit this week, this one is a fascinating read. Karadzic’s Genocidal…

Happy Sunday, all!  In Hungary we are past a nice long weekend that I have spent in the countryside. I am typing these words on a train back to Budapest, that was delayed 70 (!) minutes (Edit: departure time was delayed 70 minutes, and another 60 minutes was added during the train ride, so I got home more than two hours later than planned, I’m not one to complain, but I wish I could say this is not typical in Hungary…). That means I had more than enough time to catch up with my reading for this post. Hope you’ll…

Happy Sunday Everybody! You may forgive me for citing various pieces on the very same topic again, but there are such exciting debates going on in international law circles these days that it’s hard to choose but a few. On Crimean Secession, Fairness and Self-Determination Great one about the numerous aspects and previous precedents to keep in mind when judging this case. The Precedential Value of the Kosovo Non-Precedent Precedent for Crimea I can see non-lawyers rolling their eyes right now, but this is actually well-explained in the post, worth checking out. Crimea’s Declaration of Independence This is another one…
