Hello everybody, happy Sunday! I didn’t quite finish this post for the weekend, but then I  wanted to post it, because the articles I collected throughout the week are exceptionally good! I hope you’ll enjoy them too… Cautionary tales for the Mueller Probe from the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia  That’s an unlikely comparison, I mean it would have never occurred to me to think about these two cases in parallel, but if you consider the reasoning, it makes a lot of sense. Here’s Why the Security Council Should Not Refer Burmese Authorities to the International Criminal Court …

Happy Sunday! The New Year started with this great initiative and I was so glad to see most of the “celebrities” I am following standing behind this cause. There is a reason why I love all these people, I thought.  Also, it is Golden Globes Sunday, and I can’t wait to see them all wearing black tonight. Award season is one of the very few perks of these gloomy, grey after-holidays times, and I am excited for many of my favorites. To only name my biggest favorite, good luck to Mariah Carey and Marc Shaiman tonight! I hope you all had…

Happy Sunday! Wow, what an eventful week!  I couldn’t agree more with the Monday cover of La Razón, thank you France for voting inclusion and democratic values! Vive la France! The most turmoil of course was in US politics this week, as is kind of usual these days. It’s also kind of usual for me to refer you to late show clips, because these guys are doing their jobs amazingly no matter how hard it is these days (*coughs* #fakenews). Nothing proves it better than the fact that they actually irritate the president. On a lighter note, U2′s #U2TheJoshuaTree2017 Tour…

3+1 ways to give on #GivingTuesday

Giving Tuesday is about giving (surprise, surprise). After a weekend of eating (Thanksgiving in the US) and shopping (Black Friday and Cyber Monday) like crazy, today is a day to give back. Being grateful that you have enough food to eat and enough money to spend, now is the perfect time to donate to your favourite charity. It doesn’t have to be a huge amount of money, most organizations take any small amount that you have. What I always keep repeating is if everybody who can spare just $5 would give $5 from time to time, most of the world’s problems…

Happy Sunday and happy reading! The USA Sets Sights on Stopping UN Peacekeeper Sexual Abuse It’s about time to make this a priority. Hopefully the next Secretary General in alliance with the most powerful veto-holding member state can show some results. The Surprising Success of Syria’s Quasi-Ceasefire This is just one of the positive signs we see today, but the end is still nowhere in sight.  Refugees in ISIS’ Shadow This great New York Times op-ed (complete with a video) was written by Bono, who by the way, also testified to the US Congress this week about his experiences visiting…

Hey everybody, I hope you are all safe this weekend… A lot of things happened this week in terms of world affairs, from the Myanmar elections through the EU’s migration summit in Malta to the Syria peace talks in Vienna, but one sad event tops all of them. Let me just say I was worried from the very first moment that this will add fuel to the extreme opinions regarding the refugee issue, and indeed it did. In my country this is most certainly the case, and I think all over Europe they think they now have a seemingly legit…

Happy Sunday Everybody! As you are reading this, I am in the UK somewhere having a good time and looking forward to the U2 concert on 3 November, which almost did not happen. (Phew, long story, perhaps many will contradict, but let me just warn you not to order tickets via viagogo.com! Well, not unless you can have them in your mailbox right away. What happened is that they kindly informed me three days prior to the concert, that the tickets I payed for five months in advance don’t exist!!! They blame it on the seller, but I suspect they…

Since I was nowhere near a computer on Monday, and when I was I had to work, I completely forgot to mark World Aids Day. I just watched this great concert on Times Square from this Monday presented by (RED) campaign and Bank of America. I love Bono, I really do, but watching Bruce Springsteen singing U2 songs is just priceless. The whole concert is worth watching! (Source: https://red.bankofamerica.com/)

Happy Sunday, people! Here is what I have for you today: a great international law analysis, some news from the US and Europe, and even a song! I hope you’ll keep reading! G8 – Lobbies and Protests

Critics of the group come not just from political and diplomatic circles. From the end of the 1990s anti-globalization demonstrations has become the regular accompaniment of the summit. Besides asserting their opinions it occured that protesters attempted to stand in the way of attendees of the summit, or took other measures in trying to disorient the event. Most memorably during the 2001 Genoa summit, the protests turned violent and resulted in the death of a demonstrator and the injury of about 70 more. For this reason mainly, ever since 2001 there is an explicit intention to hold the meetings in…
