I hope everybody is having a beautiful first Sunday of Advent! Time to take out the Christmas decoration and start getting in the mood with various festivities of the holiday season! Thank you all for following! I hope you will enjoy this week’s posts. Extention Leave Iran Nuclear Deal Vulnerable to Hard-Liners I am now one of the sceptics who seriously doubt that this deal is ever going to happen. If the Iranians wanted to agree on a deal, they would have by now. Confiscating Passports: Is this a Good Way to Stop Citizens from Joining Jihadists in Syria and…

U.S. and Allies Extend Iran Nuclear Talks by 7 Months

U.S. and Allies Extend Iran Nuclear Talks by 7 Months A yearlong effort to reach an enduring accord with Iran to dismantle large parts of its nuclear infrastructure fell short on Monday, forcing the United States and its allies to declare a seven-month extension, but with no clear indication of how they plan to bridge fundamental differences. No surprise here, the never ending talks will keep going on for another seven months… at least.

Happy Sunday, everybody! Many unfortunate, even sad events are going on in the world these days. Check out what my favorite bloggers had to say about them. Security Council Meets on MH13 Disaster. What’s Next? What’s next, indeed? Russia tries to blame it on Ukraine, while all the other members blame it on Russia. And we know there is no real decision making in the SC without consensus. This Iran Nuke Deal Might. Just. Work. This post is from the first half of the week, we now know that the talks are extended by four months. The post sums up…

Happy Sunday everybody! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend! As you might noticed, I was a little stuck with the blog last week. To be honest, I do want to make some changes for some time now. The problem is, I do know what I want to see here, how I want it to be, I am just not quite sure how to get there. Please bare with me while I figure it out, I promise to keep this thing up with good content all the while. One thing never changes though, and that’s my enthusiasm towards world…

Happy pre-Christmas weekend everybody! Especially those who don’t have to work anymore before Christmas. I am not amongst them this year, but I too will be heading home for the holiday tomorrow night. World news is all about South Sudan and CAR these days. It seems these two topics are going to define headlines for the last days of the year too. Here are some great posts from last week. On world affairs: South Sudan: How Bad Can It Get? Worrisome turning of events in the youngest country of the world. There is no way to predict the outcome yet. Read…

Happy first day of December and first day of Advent everybody! It doesn’t really feel very Christmassy or even pre-Christmassy for me yet, as it is a bright sunshiny day in Hungary. Some snow would help me get in the mood. A white, snowy Advent and Christmas would surely be nice, but right after the holidays, can it be hot summer again, please? Besides all the other excitements that December holds, I am starting at a new job tomorrow that I am really looking forward to. I wish every one of my readers such an eventful and joyous December that…

Happy Sunday, dear readers! The weekend ends with some significant world news. The past week wasn’t quite eventful though, so there are only a couple of reads  I recommend today. On world affairs: Barack, Bibi and Iran It is a great article, but now that there is an agreement, I mainly left it in for the picture. It so perfectly describes the outcome of the negotiations as well, doesn’t it? Intervention in the Central African Republic This issue still doesn’t get enough attention in my opinion, although the threat of genocide after what Rwanda and Kosovo taught the international community…

Deal Reached to Halt Iran’s Nuclear Program | The Cable

Deal Reached to Halt Iran’s Nuclear Program | The Cable “Even if the deal succeeds in freezing Iran’s nuclear program, meanwhile, Washington and Tehran still remain on opposite sides of the Syrian civil war and face lingerng disputes over Iran’s support for Hezbollah in Lebanon, a network of heavily-armed Shiite militias in Iraq, and Shiite activist groups in Saudi Arabia and other Persian Gulf states. The nuclear deal could clear the way for further pacts down the road devoted specifically to issues like reducing Tehran’s support for the regime of Syrian strongman Bashar al-Assad.  For the moment, though, those disputes…

I know it’s a cliché, but time really does fly! While our scary horror Halloween party is still yet to happen due to scheduling issues, Pinterest, as well as malls and supermarkets are already flooded with Christmas stuff. And for me it somehow feels like summer just ended. How about you all? Meanwhile, this was a really busy week in world affairs with a lot of great reads on my favorite blogs. On world affairs: 3 Reasons Why this Iran Breakthrough is a Very. Big. Deal We don’t know how big of a deal exactly it is yet, as talks…

Kerry Joins European Officials at Iran Nuclear Talks

Kerry Joins European Officials at Iran Nuclear Talks In Geneva, Secretary of State John Kerry sought to temper rising expectations of an imminent deal, saying, “There are important gaps that have to be closed.” (…) “Mr. Kerry will meet with Iran’s foreign minister, Mohammad Javad Zarif, and the European Union’s foreign policy chief, Catherine Ashton, who oversees the multiparty negotiations, about 6 p.m. Before that, he will hold separate meetings with Ms. Ashton; the French foreign minister, Laurent Fabius; and the British foreign secretary, William Hague, as the major powers coordinate their own bargaining positions. The German foreign minister, Guido…
